Ana Maulvault, PhD StudentI am a marine biologist (Master in Aquaculture and Fisheries, University of Algarve) and a PhD student in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Studies (Nova University, Lisbon, Portugal). I’ve been involved, since 2006, in the management/research within the framework of several national (BENPER, RiskfoodCont) and European projects (ECsafeSEAFOOD, Musselsalive, SeafoodPlus YOUNG), which have led to the publication of 19 scientific papers (5 as first author) in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as 2 book chapters. My expertise is the assessment of chemical hazards and benefits in seafood species, seafood quality/safety, risk-benefit analysis, bioaccessibility/bioavailability of nutrients and contaminants, and the use of biochemical and histological tools to assess toxicological effects of pollutants in biota. My current research work is focused on the effect of climate change on the bioaccumulation of emerging chemical contaminants in marine organisms.
