Patrícia Anacleto, Postdoctoral Researcher

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, Guia Marine Laboratory (MARE, LMG) and at the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). I finished my degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries (2005) at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Algarve in Faro and my PhD degree in Biology, specialty in Marine Biology and Aquaculture (2014) at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. My PhD focused on the “Clams from Tagus estuary: microbiological, physiological and chemical responses to depuration, transport and environmental stress”. I’ve been participated, since 2006, in several European and national research projects (e.g. MusselsAlive, Lobsterplant, Custasea and QCA III) as a research fellow. My research activities focused on seafood quality and safety (chemical and microbiological contaminants), behaviour of crustacean and bivalve consumers as well as investigating how climate-related variables may affect the bacterial diversity and pathogenicity in invasive bivalve species. Presently, my research work aims to understand the effects of climate change-related stressors (ocean warming and acidification) on the bioenergetics field, namely on energy acquisition and allocation in marine organisms.
Interests and Expertise: Global change biology, Animal ecophysiology, Microbiology, Oxidative stress, Metabolism, Food safety, Nutrition.
